Match Report
Radley College Boys-U15A vs  Wellington College
On: Saturday, 07 May 2022
Venue: Away

For the first time this Summer it felt as though the weather gods were starting to appreciate that it is the cricket season; with the sun out (somewhat) and the wind at bay it was a lovely day for play! A good week of training, focussing on communication, running between the wickets and saving one in the field meant that after having won the toss and elected to bat, we had focus and intent. Barker hit the first two balls of our innings for 4 and we were off. He fell when the score was 31 and then Womersley went straight away, first ball to reverse the early pressure. However, Southan came to the crease and batted beautifully for 68 off 58. Donald partnered him well before falling for 33. Cook and Weston ran well at the end to ensure we reached a very respectable 211/6 off 30.

Wellington lost an early wicket but rallied and at one point looked on track. However, the excellent Hutchings (3-24) and the instigator of the vital wicket (Pitts for 34) and Pillar (1-26) along with Barker (1-24) kept Radley on top throughout. The fielding was generally good with Fletcher worthy of a mention for taking three catches at backward point.

Radley eventually won by 56 runs, comfortable as it turned out but a great afternoon of cricket was had by all.

Thank you so much to the merry band of supportive parents who came to watch. Next week sees us play Bradfield at home. A full week of training awaits with the learnings from today's game set as a priority to focus upon.
