Match Report
Radley College Boys-U14E vs  Bradfield College Boys-U14D
On: Saturday, 14 May 2022
Venue: Away

Midgets 5 arrived at the beautiful setting of Bradfield ready to do battle. The pitch was a curious mix of synthetic and grass, which made for an interesting and varied bounce at times. Malecki and de Morgan opened the batting, with de Morgan eventually carrying his bat for 20*. Malecki (8), Hodges (12), Samuel (9) and Wu (11) all chipped in, with only the unlucky Griffith being caught without scoring. Extras (2 for a wide or no ball) yielded 46 runs, fortunately. 109 for 5 off 20 perhaps did not look enough, however...

Fortified by a splendid tea and duly rehydrated the men took the field ready to defend their total. Bradfield's opening batsman looked threatening, and he rattled along at about 4 or 5 an over. But 3 quick (and crucial) wickets by Malecki turned the tide, with Tam also taking 2 wickets. Wu had a man caught, and suddenly it was game on again. Roques and de Morgan bowled tidily and a couple of run-outs also did the trick. With one ball remaining Bradfield needed a six to win the game, but a dot ball from de Morgan sealed an exciting victory. What a match! Malecki was deservedly MoM, but Hodges captained brilliantly and de Morgan and others all played their part. Well done to the whole team.
