Match Report
Radley College Boys-U14A vs  Eton College
On: Thursday, 14 Oct 2021
Venue: Away

It is always a pleasure to travel to Eton, but to travel therein the glorious Autumn sunshine was a true privilege. The Radley rugby matched the glorious conditions, with early tries coming from the impressive Czekalowski, Eze and Williams. Radley very infrequently gave Eton any quality field position or territory and capitalized on the mistakes that adley's pressure created. Regardless, the rugby was not quite as "pure" as Mr Greed and Mr Gaunt would have liked. Too often the opportunity to score a proper try was squandered with the boys taking the opportunity to score individual rather than team efforts. We talked about this at half time and despite being 25-0 to the good, asked the boys to play with width, through their passing accuracy rather than running ability. Crean, on debut, was the first to benefit, scoring a wonderful try which resulted from width, width and then more width. With Eton on their haunches, Crean galloped down the left side of the field for a well deserved score. Godbold, showing some glorious footwork was at the heart of everything but Renders was the star man. His willingness to do everything that the team requires of him is unbelievably impressive. He is a tough young man, cut from the Jonny Wilkinson cloth. He was our man of the match. His perception and vision further allowed others to benefit and get on the score sheet. Dylan Hughes galloped down the other wing to score, Captain Williams notched a second, Brooks, growing in confidence then scored and Parker scored the last from fullback. The boys (and parents!) have earned a good rest over half term. Many big tests await thereafter, starting with another away fixture at Uppingham.
