Bedford put up a real test for a Radley U14 C side brimming with intent and confidence after last week’s visit to Sherborne. The opening exchanges were viscerally physical, with both teams defending and competing stoutly. After some accurate and disciplined play in midfield, Guy Donald unlocked the door for Frank Edwards to dive over for the opening score.
Continued pressure and discipline led to strong field position a few minutes later and once again unselfish handling saw the impressive Ned Cordle touch down in the corner. With the score 10-0 at the interval, still much was to be done. Indeed, Bedford steeled themselves and came out invigorated, forcing several errors from Radley. However, as the uncompromising defence, led by Seb Miller and Ollie Evans, wore them down, Bedford eventually succumbed to two further tries. Andrew Law scored a from fine front row carry from the base of the ruck and Rory Ridland capped a fine, expansive move by scoring in the far corner.
A brave and professional performance heralds much from the jewel in the crown of Radley rugby.
