Always exciting to play the first game at home and an unbeaten St Pauls was going to be a tough test. A good start was going to be crucial as well as winning the territory battle on what is a big, wide pitch.
Radley started well - with a few strong carries from Angus Brown leading to him scoring the opening try. As he did throughout the game, Tom King kicked well which led to Radley building a lead. Good scrambling defence in the wide channels kept St Pauls at bay, until Arthur broke up the left wing following a good set piece platform.
Tries by Kit Wade and Will Bullen took Radley in 28-0 at half time, which was certainly an imposing lead.
The game became scrappier as the match progressed as St Pauls began to control field position. In what was an even second half, both sides exchanged 2 tries each (both converting 1) to lead the final score of 38-12.
Strong performance overall, with some improvement needed to our drift defence for Tonbridge next Saturday.
