The season ended with the team's best performance against a spirited Marlborough side. Given the rain on previous days, the game was played on a pitch with a relatively steep incline, as well as a stiff breeze. The team opted to go uphill in the first half, and soon realised the nature of the task when Marlborough crashed over to score after some weak tackling of their stronger players. However, the team then hit their stride with relentless rucking and better ball retention in contact. William Utley scored after fighting his way over the line having picked up from the back of ruck, only for the team to let in another try through weak tackling. But despite playing against a team that looked to contain some JC3 players, discipline held and two more tries from Hugh Williams-Bulkeley and Ricky Xia meant the team led by one point at half time. Another try from Xia after the break, with the team now playing downhill and with the slope, suggested the going would be easier, but this was not to be. Marlborough rallied and scored again, leaving them just one point behind. At this point, when the opposition confidence was growing, Arthur Bland ran up and intercepted as they attacked, bringing play right back down to the opposition end. Good rucking was followed by a move down the line leading to a Henry Butter try in the corner. The scrum battled all day, with Atti Bacghi getting over the ball first on numerous occasions. Cracking tackling came from Hugo Pinsent Finn Champion. Ricky Xia was the standout man, on his birhtday, with numerous rauns getting over the gainline. Overall then, this was an excellent end to a successful season.
