Match Report
Radley College 4th XI vs  Marlborough College
On: Saturday, 24 Feb 2024
Venue: Away

Our first win of the season, at last!. We won the toss and took the downhill option, although this did have the disadvantage of our defence having the sun in their eyes. Marlborough started off strong and vocal, and after a slick 1-2 scored the first goal. We came out fighting, and just about dominated. A promising attack saw us fill their box with attackers, but Mac did not need that support and hit the ball into the top corner. The rest of the first half was relatively even with both teams scoring one more each. After a fuelling up at half-time and stern words about chatting too much too the opposition we went out and dominated. (This was despite the cloud blocking the sun from the moment the whistle was blown, so their defence did not have to contend with.). A promising ball forward saw their keeper miss the ball, but get Conrad instead. Having joined our team after the penalty selector session, Conrad was unaware that Bertie is the 4ths official penalty taker, so insisted on taking the penalty himself, luckily for him, he scored! The match was still on a knife edge...we had lost at similar game at Harrow after dominating... A great free kick from R-T was turned in by a Marlborough centre back. The 4ths kept resolute for the last eight minutes, to secure a well-deserved win.
