Match Report
Radley College 5th XI vs  Cheltenham College Boys-U18A
On: Saturday, 24 Feb 2024
Venue: Away

An excellent test for our team against a confident A team from Cheltenham. We began very well, and although we gave away the first of several sloppy goals, at the half-hour mark we were only 0-1 down and had made several promising attacks. A second goal just before half-time dropped the heads a little, as it often does, and raise the confidence of the Cheltenham team who came out roaring in the second half. They scored two goals in quick succession, one a penalty after a quick break led to an unfortunately mistimed defensive dive from the Radley keeper. However, although we were often outplayed, the game was not a total mismatch, and several of our players - Hugh Levett, Said Baransi, Toby Hopton, and Ludo Collis in particular - were causing real problems. Unfortunately, as against Tonbridge, 4 of our 5 goals came from obvious defensive errors, and we have already talked about the need to cut down on those and to be more direct when under pressure in our own box - sometimes even our own six-yard box. A valuable day out.
