Playing up against the SPS 3rds was a daunting task. The first 15 minutes did little to qualm fears as SPS dominated the game, punching through the line with powerful forwards and kicking exceptionally well to the corner. Radley’s narrow defence was soon rounded as SPS opened the scoring. It could easily have been a couple more as Radley were pinned back in their 22. Desperate tackling and sound communication in defence meant the line held - just. After a number of attempts to kick to clear were returned with interest, the team boldly kept the ball in hand after a 5 metre scrum. It paid off as the team ran the pitch and scored at the other end. Game on. Over time the speedsters in the back line proved too strong and some excellent offloading and angled running soon took Radley ahead. After half time the rucking improved too. Injuries took SPS to 14 so we lent them a winger who made some probing runs down the wing. MVP awarded to Jenkins after the getting the captain’s nod for some dominating tackling.
