Match report courtesy of Hugh Downie:
After a rather arduous week of exams, we faced Marlbrough. The warmup was rather shocking, much like the history exam, but the whistle blew, and we were off.
The first half started very slowly, with Marlbrough’s half court press causing problems for the defence as we struggled to get out of our own half. But aided by some good leads from Butters and Glassey, we managed to get into the D and apply some pressure to the Marlbrough defence. Chances came, but unfortunately we didn’t find the back of the net, with Renders, Wateridge, Brooks and Dunlop creating lots of positive outcomes. The frantic Marlbrough attack looked threatening for a while, but Hall, Read and Beardy saw it through, managing to keep the game at bay for half time.
After Mr Jolly’s pep talk, and some of Butters scrumptious Haribos, we started again. Both teams started well, but our back four found some consolidation and managed to finally transfer around the back, which eventually led to a piece of brilliance from Glassey, stringing a sublime pass to Renders, who absolutely humiliated their keeper, knocking it in past the near post. 1-0 Radley. Shortly after, a mouthy Butters saw the bin once again, making his second appearance in the books in two games, can he make it a hatrick? Marlbrough had some fight left in them however, dominating the final ten minutes of the game, but fortunately for us we were saved by the whistle.
A decent game from the lads, but lots to improve on before the derby on Saturday (H).
