Good win today for the team. With a little more time on the ball, they were dominant throughout, but for some time made it look more difficult to put the ball in the back of the net than they perhaps needed to. The team have struggled to perform on Thursdays at training in the past against lower teams - and the quality of play was a little dampened at times due to tiredness. However, quality won out. Persistent attacks led to Campion pushing a ball through the defence and past the goalie in the 15th minute. Teddy managed one back in the 20th minute after the defence were slow to close down a defender, before Wade managed to put Radley back in the lead in the 30th minute.
Early in the second half, charged with having fun (and keeping a clean sheet), Deram, scored from the back post, followed by a second Wade special in the 45th minute, then Deram (60) and finally Lawrence was rewarded for his excellent efforts in the mid field with an effortless goal from the edge of the area. During the match the defence became more organised, with Barlow running the show this week, bringing Hall and Sauranbayev online, and Vickers played with class intercepting, and linking with his men on the left (Nokes, Tiang, the ever fluid Campion, Chan, speedster Appleton, Coke - whoever drifted in zone). Pilkington made some great calls from the back too - commiting at just the right moment whenever Teddies started to impinge.
A proper cliched 'team effort', but MoM was Deram for some outstanding work as the game progressed - great touch on the ball, superb crosses, and of course a couple of goals.
