Radley College took a team to the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire (BBO) Cross-Country Championships for the first time ever. The event is well over 100 years old, and is one of the oldest cross-country races in the world. Broughton Castle near Banbury was the perfect setting and created 'old school' cross-country on difficult ground, steep climbs and a relentlessly undulating 4km course.
Our Nationals bound Under-15s squad took on club athletes from across neighbouring counties. The race included some real high end talent, and the boys rose to the challenge and continuing their ability to pack so tightly to push each other to high places. The first 3 runners in each team counted towards our team score as follows:
Split by just 8 seconds George, Johnny and James helped us to achieve a 3rd place team finish and leave beating established local running clubs Abingdon AC and Banbury Harriers.
