This was an excellent game of rugby, with both teams showing tenacity and determination right through to the final whistle. Radley's early try, through Read pushing over from close range, went unconverted and two scores from Abingdon put the home side 14-5 up. A penalty, comfortably kicked by Womersly, narrowed the gap but Radley missed an key opportunity to challenge the lead with an unfortunate handling error with the try line open. In the end the better defence won though it had been testing by surging runs, notably from Woo and Fortes Whiddon.
