Venue: Away

For the second game of the season, we faced Rugby school away. We were tired off the bus and with not long before push back we hurried to the pitches. Everyone was excited for the second game of the season and wanted to put our first win on the board. Off push back it took a while for us to get into the groove with a few missed passes and some frantic play due to a high Rugby press. About halfway through the first half, we had our first promising attack. With a pass from the right, the ball found Sweeting who flicked it through the keeper into Bottom left. Buzzing we headed back for a re-start. Passes started to line up as we played throughout the back making Rugby forwards run, letting us rest. After another promising move with a nice transfer and attack down the right, we won our second short corner. The ball came out to Ben, who stopped it, and Oscar was able to sneak it through the keeper in the middle. Towards the end of the half, despite a couple of Rugby counter-attacks, we looked mostly in control, with a better rhythm of passing.

At the beginning of the second half, transfers round the back looked smooth, opening up play down the wings. With good forward movement, we spent a lot of time in the opponents D, and the majority of play was in their half. Addy managed to win a couple of shorts, as he carried the ball around the edge of the D, causing their defenders to panic and hit if off the back line. A good short corner move, with a slip right, just misses Jasper back post. With play continuing as normal, the forwards stepped up the pressure on Rugby 16s. Eventually, the defenders made a mistake and passed it straight to Jasper who tried to run it around the keeper, but it ricocheted off into the centre of the D and Johnny was able to push it home. With little time left to play, we kept the ball well, leading to a positive result. Xander was voted man of the match who got us out of some sticky situations with a strong defence and carried the ball well with some lovely balls all throughout the pitch. Overall a lovely game from us as we managed to win overall 3-0. Excited to play after exeat .
