After a scrappy game vs Eton, losing 2-1, we were keen to get back to winning ways and to playing well. Without a proper training session on Tuesday, we were straight back into action vs Rugby.

We started off with some strange aerial, not previously practised...and the tone of the match continued in that manner. We struggled to get control of the ball and to keep possession, playing into an athletic Rugby team's hands. However, it was a relief when we won a short corner and deployed the tried and tested slip/slap/deflection (which broke down) but lead to a goal for Ade, 1-0. Moments later after a fair passage of play, JKB popped up in his accustomed place at the back post, hammering the ball home for his 4th of the season. Half time came and went, and with some adjustments to the press and out-letting we started on a good footing, playing well, passing well and looking like we were about to put the to the sword. However, this didn't materialise, and we could only hold onto good passages of play for a few passes rather than stringing anything together. Another goal from JKB, with the assist from Ade, takes him to 5 for the season, again clinically finishing from the left post and being rewarded for never stopping on the pitch! Winning a short corner with 5 or six minutes to go, it was great to have Bremner step up for a drag flick; middle-middle was not what we had planned nor practised, but he was quick on the follow up, slotting the ball past the keeper's outstretched stick into the back of the net. 4-0. Onto Bradfield, with work to do in training in the coming week.
